Przy czym tytuł tej ostatniej w pewnym sensie doskonale podsumowuje treść wszystkich trzech. Co w nich dostajemy? Niewiele. W sumie to ledwie nieco ponad 200 stron, z tym zastrzeżeniem, że bynajmniej nie są to kartki wypełnione po brzegi treścią, wręcz przeciwnie, wiele z nich zapełniają ledwie kilkulinijkowe fragmenty; całość do przeczytania w godzinkę czy dwie. Ową całością są natomiast rzeczy najróżniejsze, od krótkich opisów znanych z sagi czarodziejów, przez nieco dłuższe ich historie (profesor Slughorn), aż po bardzo rozbudowane (MacGonagall, Lupin). Większą część książek zajmują jednak encyklopedyczne notki dotyczące duchów Hogwartu, Ministerstwa Magii (jest i spis ministrów), Azkabanu, wilkołaków, goblinów i wielu innych haseł. Spodziewajcie się ciekawostek, może kilku wzruszeń (opowieści o MacGonagall i Lupinie są świetne), generalnie jednak jest to po prostu skromne uzupełnienie wiedzy, którą posiada każdy, kto czytał serię o Potterze. Wzbogacone nieco przemyśleniami samej Rowling, która w wielu wypadkach uzupełnia poszczególne wpisy komentarzami zdradzającymi genezy nazw czy pomysłów lub bardziej osobistymi wspomnieniami z procesu pisania np. o niektórych generalnie ciekawe, ale jednak rozczarowujące, bo publikacja w aż trzech osobnych tomach sugerowała, że trochę tych treści czytelnicy otrzymają. Dziwi też fakt, że do tych książek nie trafiły wszystkie oryginalne materiały z Pottermore, jak choćby artykuł Rity Skeeter czy dodane niedawno informacje o amerykańskim społeczeństwie czarodziejów oraz o szkołach magii z całego premierą była jednak wystawiana w Londynie sztuka „Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”, którą napisał Jack Thorne, a do której Rowling tylko konsultowała pomysły. Jej scenariusz ukazał się w wersji książkowej (w Polsce w październiku nakładem Media Rodzina jako Harry Potter i Przeklęte Dziecko), każdy więc będzie mógł poznać „ósmą książkę o Harrym Potterze”, jak się ją nazywa, bez konieczności wizyty na jeżeli ktoś się na to zdecydował, żałować raczej nie będzie. Thorne to nie Rowling, więc nie zbliża się do jej poziomu, trzeba jednak oddać mu to, że w naśladownictwie jest niezwykle sprawny. Jego historia to coś w rodzaju składanki największych hitów, bo powracają w niej wszystkie ulubione postacie, artefakty, motywy, sztuczki fabularne, lokacje, mnóstwo jest odwołań do sagi, niekiedy jest ona cytowana wprost, nad całością zaś unosi się duch nostalgii. Fabularnie przenosimy się w przyszłość, bo punktem wyjścia jest kończąca „Insygnia Śmierci” scena, w której Harry, Ginny, Hermina i Ron siedemnaście lat po Bitwie o Hogwart odprowadzają swoje dzieci na pociąg do szkoły. Thorne podejmuje tu wątek młodego Albusa Severusa Pottera, syna słynnego Harry’ego Pottera, który z tym brzemieniem trafia do Hogwartu – czyli znowu powraca motyw dziecka, które wszyscy widzą jako Wybrańca i od którego wiele się oczekuje. Dorzucamy także oczywiście opowieść o przyjaźni, bardzo niezwykłej zresztą, bo Albus przypada do gustu, z wzajemnością, Scorpiusowi Malfoyowi, a więc synowi Draca (i właśnie Scorpius jest najlepszą postacią z książki).Dalej jest bardzo ciekawie, wiele się dzieje, i jak pisałem powraca wiele znanych z serii elementów. Miłośnicy tego świata z pewnością docenią tę przygodę, cieszyć się będą z powrotów, z nowych informacji o przyszłości wielu postaci – Thorne znacząco rozwija tu wiele biografii. W sumie może nie dostajemy czegoś na poziomie powieści z cyklu, niczego na poziomie Rowling, lektura „Przeklętego Dziecka” nie będzie jednak absolutnie czasem publikacje zaostrzą zaś na pewno nasze apetyty przed premierą filmu „Fantastyczne zwierzęta…”, który do kin trafi w połowie listopada, do którego zaś scenariusz pisała sama Rowling. Obraz, mający otwierać nową trylogię, przeniesie nas nie tylko w przeszłość, kilkadziesiąt lat przed narodzinami Harry’ego, ale i do innego miejsca – tym razem areną wydarzeń będzie nie Hogwrat, ale Stany Zjednoczone. Oznacza to, że poznamy inne magiczne społeczeństwo, które – wedle informacji opublikowanych jakiś czas temu na Pottermore – znacząco różni się w zwyczajach od brytyjskiego. Czyli ten sam świat, ale jednak inny, z innymi można więc nazwać rok 2016 Rokiem Harry’ego Pottera? Może, nieco pompatycznie. Pottermore's logo 2016-2022 (former wizarding world website) Pottermore's original logo 2011-2016 Pottermore was an official Harry Potter website created by J. K. Rowling. It started in April 2012 as a joint venture by Rowling and Sony. It began with interactive features such as games and let the user follow each chapter of Harry Potter from the Philosopher's Stone to the ending of the Deathly Hallows. It placed users in their Hogwarts house and gave them a wand.[1] In 2016, Pottermore was remade and relaunched in the style of a blog. Focusing mainly on new writing from Rowling, news and special feature articles, it allows the user to make a more private profile where they are sorted in both their Hogwarts and Ilvermorny house. Pottermore also gives them a wand and tells them what Patronus they would have. Since it began, Pottermore has posted some of Rowling's extensive collection of work with over 18,000 words.[2] Pottermore also has a shop where eBook editions of the books were available for purchase for the first time. They have also created Pottermore Presents which has both new information and archived information that were taken down in the relaunch. Before it opened, one million people received a chance to preview the site before its general launch in early April 2012. It was opened for the public on 14 April 2012. Pottermore was available to the general public for free up until it was rebranded in 2019 as Wizarding World. History Announcement and unveiling "I'm thrilled to say I'm now in a position to give you something unique. An online reading experience unlike any other. It's called Pottermore. It's the same story but a few crucial additions; the most important one is you." — J. K. Rowling's announcement on 23 June, 2011. Pottermore teaser page, 17 June 2011 As a teaser for what was then a mystery announcement, a challenge was set up on 15 June 2011. Fans had to use coordinates revealed among ten Harry Potter fan sites to piece together a word that would be the subject of her announcement.[3] When the letters (E-T-O-T-O-P-E-R-R-M) were revealed,[4] was launched with a "coming soon" message and Rowling's signature. An official Twitter account was also created.[5] By the next day, a new YouTube account titled, [2] was revealed to show a countdown which noted that the official unveiling of Pottermore's nature would be on 23 June 2011.[5] Initially, fans were only told that Pottermore was not another book. A representative of Rowling told The Guardian on 16 June 2011, "All we can say is that Pottermore is the name of Rowling's new project. It will be announced soon, and it is not a new book." Many fans guessed it was either an online game, a new fan site, or a digital encyclopedia. All three of those guesses were correct.[6] Some fan sites reportedly had access to a sneak preview of Pottermore and, while jokingly added that they had made "an unbreakable vow concerning its secrecy," they reported it is "breathtaking in scope, detail, and sheer beauty"[7] and "perfect." Rowling Announces Pottermore Rowling announces Pottermore On 23 June, J. K. Rowling made an announcement via her YouTube account to inform fans of the nature of the website: "Pottermore will be the place where fans of any age can share, participate in, and rediscover the stories. It will also be the exclusive place to purchase digital audio books and, for the first time, e-books of the Harry Potter series." Rowling also said that Pottermore would be open for everyone from October, 2011,[8] though this opening date was later delayed.[9] It was later announced that Pottermore would be open for everyone in early April, 2012. On 1 April, 2012 a sneak peek video was shown on Pottermore's homepage and Youtube. Beta period From 31 July and 6 August 2011, Pottermore held the Magical Quill Challenge. For seven days, fans had to try and to solve a new clue every day on the main site and then type it on the end of another URL. They then had to find the correct quill on the page which would give them early access to Pottermore. On 8 August, everyone who were already given early access were unable to login to Pottermore. Even anyone who had been logged in previously and selected 'keep me logged in' were logged out. On 10 August, users began receiving emails confirming that they have been selected for early entry for Pottermore. The activation time was mid-August until late September. On 15 August, everyone was able to login to Pottermore was again and the beta period began for users who had received their welcome emails that day. On 26 August for 5 hours, Wizard Duelling was available. On 28 September, the site was unavailable because it was being updated, and the Pottermore Insider revealed that all the one million beta-tester welcome emails had finally been sent out. On 5 November, the site was still in beta mode, and while everyone with early access were able to log in, registration was closed and usernames and passwords were limited. On 13 December, Wizard Duelling was once again available. Magical Quill Challenge Between 31 July and 6 August, there was a Magical Quill challenge, a competition in which fans had to solve a clue revealed on the main site, add the answer to the end of a special web address, and then locate the Quill on the site they are taken to. When they located the Quill, fans were taken to a registration page for Pottermore. Approximately 1 million fans were given access through this promotion (about 143,000 a day). When each day's quota was filled, the clue was removed and replaced with a message indicating that registration had closed. Anyone who managed to find the Magical Quill and register received an email with a validation link that they must have followed within 48 hours. Upon clicking the validation link, they became eligible for early access to Pottermore. They then eventually received a welcome email that allowed them to access Pottermore. Pottermore sent them across a period of several weeks as interest was high. When all the early entry places were filled, the Magic Quill links were withdrawn. Fans still could join the email list on the homepage, but could not fully register or enter until Pottermore opened to all in April 2012. Pottermore gave the challenge the tag-line "7 books, 7 days, 7 chances". Each day's clue corresponded to a different book ( day 1's clue relates to book 1, day 2's clue relates to book 2,and so on). The first three clues were more difficult than the last four. Day One On day one, the clue was based on Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and unveiled 31 July at 9:00 am London time. The answer is 245, as there are 5 owl breeds.[10][11] Typing in the correct URL would redirect you to Sony USA's website where a maroon screen read 'Your journey begins here'. When clicked on, the screen filled with floating feathers but only one was the Magic Quill. It had an aura of luminous blue around it, and clicking on it would take you to the registration site. Day Two On the second day, the clue based on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets that unveiled 1 August at 10:00 am London time, was: What is the number of the chapter in which Professor McGonagall cancels the Quidditch match between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff? In the gallery a photo of the Magic Quill on a pink background was added. Clicking it would redirect you to the Pottermore registration page. Usually where the calendar is, the Magic Quill box filled its space. You had to move your mouse quickly from side to side to levitate the quill. After levitating the Magic Quill a "Congratulations" message would appear, and the ad box would slowly load a "Now begin your journey" link. Clicking the link redirected you to the Pottermore registration page. Day Four On the fourth day, the clue based on Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and unveiled 3 August at 3:30 pm London time, was: How many students take part in the Triwizard Tournament during Harry's fourth year? Multiply this number by 28. The answer is 112, as 4 students took part in the Triwizard Tournament in 1994.[10] Typing in the correct URL would redirect you right to the "Congratulations! Universal opening The Pottermore Shop, featuring eBooks and digital audiobooks, opened 27 March, 2012, based on the first priority of "opening Pottermore to as many people as possible and making the experience as good as it can be."[14] Originally it was announced that general registration would be opened to the public sometime around the end of October.[15][14] On October 28, 2011, an announcement was made that the beta period was to be extended "so that we can make Pottermore the best experience it can be before it opens to everyone." No new date for general registration was announced for several months, only that "...we will open registration as soon as we can."[9] However, on 8 March 2012, a release date of early April was announced, as well as an announcement that the site would be moving to "an entirely different platform setup" as an explanation of the extended beta period.[16] On 14 April 2012, Pottermore ended the Beta period and was opened to everyone for sign up. All pages, however, still displayed a "beta" link which all registered members could use to report problems they were experiencing with the site, up until the release of the final chapters of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban on 31 July, 2013, which was accompanied by a major redesign of the site. In April of 2014, approximately two years after the site's official release, Sony cancelled their partnership with Pottermore, leaving the site and related media to run as an independent venture.[17] New phase of development On 14 April, 2015, Pottermore announced they were entering a "new phase of development". They had decided that some features were "no longer properly serving the interests of our users" and were discontinued. The Pottermore Insider, the uploading of fan art, updating your status and the commenting section were deleted.[18] On 28 April, 2015, Pottermore released an updated set of Terms & Conditions,[19] Privacy & Cookie Policy[20] and Child Privacy & Safety Policy[21] intended to make all policies clearer. They took effect on 13 May, 2015. On 22 September, 2015, Pottermore was given a major redesign. Interactive features such as duelling, making potions and moments were deleted. They also elimated the need of a user account to access content, giving a more open exploration of content from the books and Rowling's writings. However, they eventually brought back popular features that would need an account such as the Sorting Ceremony and obtaining a wand, as well as eventually adding a feature to learn one's Patronus.[22][23] On 28 January, 2016, the Sorting Hat was brought back, along with the wand ceremony. On 28 June, 2016, a Sorting ceremony for Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was added in anticipation of the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them film release. On 22 September, 2016, the site unveiled a long-awaited feature - the ability for registered members to determine their Patronus Charm. This takes the form of a quiz of several questions, after which the member's patronus is revealed and added to their personal profile on the site. The quiz, which can only be taken once, is accompanied by graphics and sound and features a wide range of possible patronus animals.[24] In May 2017, Pottermore announced they would be holding the Wizarding World Book Club, starting in June, to celebrate twenty years since the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. They provided updates and news related to Pottermore such as technical issues and promotional material and featured a behind-the-scenes look inside the making of Pottermore. It was launched in US and Great British English on 27 March 2012.[27] The Pottermore Shop launched soon after in French, Italian, German and Italian languages on 24 April 2012. In August 2013, it launched in Danish, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, and Brazilian Portuguese, and Swedish. At present users can use £ GBP, € EUR and $ USD to buy eBooks and digital audio books from the Pottermore Shop.[33] Pottermore's old features In the old Pottermore, users could move through the chapters and "follow" Harry Potter as well as collect items such as potion ingredients, books and Galleons, many of which earned house points once they are sorted. Among other things, users were able to visit Diagon Alley, learn spells, duel other users and brew potions. Students from different houses competed with each other for the House Cup by gaining house points mainly through duelling and potion-making. Since the public launch of Pottermore, the House Cup has been awarded four times. Exploring Harry's story "Harry is delivered" - one of the Moments on Pottermore Users of Pottermore could get through the chapters of each Harry Potter volume and explore its content. Every chapter is divided into Moments in which a user could find new characters, objects, creatures and places or, if there was such a possibility, read new information from J. K. Rowling. The user could move through the Moments by using the Story Navigator. There was also a short quote from the book depicting a main event that the Moment contained. Upon the public launch, only the first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was ready to explore for users.[34] Starting with Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the books were released in batches of chapters. The first instalment of Chamber of Secrets was launched in July 2012, concluding with the third instalment, released at the end of October that year. The release of Prisoner of Azkaban was also scattered, with instalment releases in December 2012 and April and July 2013, respectively. As of May 2015, Philosopher's Stone to Half-Blood Prince were all released in full, and Deathly Hallows was said to be "coming shortly". Material from Deathly Hallows was released in full on 23 June, 2015. On 25 January, 2014, the creative director of Pottermore, Tom Hodgson, appeared at the "A Celebration of Harry Potter" convention in Orlando, displaying an audio clip recorded by J. K. Rowling in which she gave "a mischievous and somewhat unexpected back-story to one of her most colourful Harry Potter characters", and revealed artwork from the next selection of chapters from Goblet of Fire[35]. On 25 June, 2014, it was announced via the Pottermore Insider that the final instalment of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, consisting of chapters twenty-one to thirty-seven, would be made available shortly after the 2014 Quidditch World Cup, with Ravenclaws having twenty-four hours' early access due to having won the fifth House Cup[36]. The early access began on 30 July, 2014, whilst other houses were able to explore the new moments on 31 July, 2014, Harry Potter's (and the author's) birthday; this was announced on 28 July, 2014[37]. Brewing potions Making potions on Pottermore Pottermore gave users an opportunity to make their own potions in three different cauldrons (although only one could be used at a time) made of pewter, brass and copper, each making potions of increasing speed, with pewter the slowest and copper the fastest. Pewter cauldrons cost 15 Galleons, brass cauldrons cost 21 Galleons and copper cauldrons cost 25 Galleons. With ingredients bought in Diagon Alley, users could make six different potions, each of which rewarded house points if completed, or did not if the potion failed. The potion could fail if the user added the wrong amount of an ingredient, left it to brew for too long, didn't keep the temperature within the range, crushed ingredients too finely or not finely enough, or caused the cauldron to explode. Users can practise against members belonging to the same House as themselves, but can only challenge members of other houses. The winner receives five points for the house, while the loser receives zero points.[14] House Cup (Discontinued) House points as of 30/9/12 with Slytherin in the lead (36,075,478 points) The House Cup was awarded every few months from July 2012 until September 2015. By duelling, making potions and finding things in moments, you could win points for your house. You could even lose points by failing to brew a potion properly. The House Cup had a page where a banner was given to each house. The winners were given a special prize. Inaugural Pottermore House Cup 5 July, 2012 results The inaugural Pottermore House Cup was awarded on Thursday, 5th July, 2012, to Slytherin. Slytherin with 74,290,864 points Gryffindor with 74,069,919 points Ravenclaw with 71,815,917 points Hufflepuff with 62,596,368 points For winning, Slytherin was rewarded with a secret bonus - the ability to explore the first few Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets chapters on the site 24 hours ahead of the other houses users. Only students already in Slytherin at the time the House Cup were awarded received this bonus, a ruling likely added as a precaution against users attempting to register a new Slytherin account in order to gain access to the bonus.[38] The Slytherins got to start exploring the first four chapters of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on 10th of July, 2012. Gryffindors, Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs were able to start exploring it on 11th of July, 2012. Second Pottermore House Cup 21 November, 2012 results The second Pottermore House Cup was awarded on Wednesday, 21st November, 2012, to Gryffindor. PlayStation Home In April 2013, Pottermore was integrated into PlayStation Home, a feature available to members of the PlayStation Network, accessible through the PlayStation 3 console. The feature introduced a new minigame called "Book Herding," as well as an expanded Duelling system and also allowed existing Pottermore users to link their accounts and collect new trading cards.[42] New Writing by Rowling New Writing by Rowling is a main feature by Pottermore. Everything written for the feature is considered the highest level of canon. Originally, a lot of the writing could only be read by signing up for the old version of Pottermore. The writing would be unlocked in moments. However, when Pottermore was relaunched, a lot of the writing was lost until they started to upload them again. They can now be read without signing up. Rowling created the Sorting Hat Quiz along with a welcome message for each house that have remained the same. The Ollivanders Bespoke Wand Selector has also remained the same. In 2016, the Ilvermorny Sorting Quiz and the Patronus Quiz were created as well. Pottermore had been in development for two years since its incorporation in April 2009. The Leaky Cauldron's Melissa Anelli has been involved with the project since October 2009. Entertainment Weekly admitted with approval of the website and praised that the website was not just a marketing ploy to sell e-books and audiobooks, but a website that "will at least let you experience some of the fun of living in the world of Harry Potter."[44] Though it was stated that one million beta members would have the opportunity to preview the site, as of 15 April, 2012 (the day after the public opening), the site's Great Hall section listed around 850,000 students as being registered. A number of factors account for this, including members who "caught the magical quill" but later chose not to participate, and accounts that were reviewed following reported attempts to sell accounts for early access to the site. On October 11, 2012, Rowling held a live webcast and answered fan questions, including one chosen from a poll on the Pottermore Insider. Pisarka za jej pośrednictwem przekazywała wiele ciekawostek na temat stworzonego przez nią uniwersum, ale również pojawiały się na niej również dodatkowe informacje, na które nie było miejsca w powieściach i filmach. Oto co musicie siedmiu latach dostarczania wam wszystkich najnowszych doniesień z Czarodziejskiego Świata, analiz każdej historii o Harrym Potterze, informacji z ostatniej chwili dotyczące serii filmowej "Fantastyczne zwierzęta", wzywania fandomu do brania udziału w trudnych quizach oraz oczywiście proszeniu was o odkrywanie, do którego z domów należycie, teraz możemy ogłosić... że zamierzamy zrobić jeszcze więcej tego wszystkiego! Wybieramy się na drugą stronę ulicy do naszego nowego domu - Jest trochę jak Nora - dodaliśmy za pomocą magii kilka dodatkowych pięter i rzuciliśmy kilka Zaklęć Poszerzających, dając wam treści, które znacie i kochacie z i dodać trochę nowych, dodatkowych niespodzianek. Wizyta na sprawi, że od razu przeniesiecie się na - ale nie martwcie się, nie musicie borykać się z Proszkiem Fiuu. Nadal jest w sieci i pełni rolę domu dla Harry'ego Pottera i Fantastycznych bardzo zapracowani nad różnorodnością ekscytujących przedsięwzięć, by wasza podróż przez Czarodziejski Świat była jeszcze lepsza, a to wymagało jeszcze większej i lepszej strony, by wszystko wam teraz możecie stworzyć Czarodziejski Paszport na używając swojego konta Pottermore - wszystkie wasze poprzednie dokonania zostaną przeniesione na nową stronę. To wasz dom Hogwartu, różdżka i Patronus. Jak widać, fani nie powinni się smucić z powodu zmiany, ponieważ wiąże się ona z poszerzeniem ilości treści, które pojawią się na nowej stronie.
